MY CLEAN COUNTRY
Date
2020
Location
Baku, Azerbaijan
I've never witnessed the streets of Baku so eerily empty. While my nature is to search for the "silver lining" in situations, the desolation is undeniably heart-wrenching. There are few cars, and the streets are nearly devoid of people. However, the city's cleanliness brings a glimmer of joy, and I find myself strangely content with the current situation.
Thanks to this virus, nature has seized a rare opportunity to reclaim its space from the concrete jungle we've created. The earth seems to have taken a deep breath in this brief respite. The air has become clearer, and animals appear to revel in the absence of bustling streets. Being a nature enthusiast, I observe this transformation with a sense of wonder. However, it's important to acknowledge that it was our actions that led us to this point.
Perhaps the most intriguing question is what awaits us once this crisis subsides. Will humanity heed the lessons learned, or will we continue down a destructive path? Nature provides us with the essentials for life, and it gives generously. It has shown remarkable patience as we've disregarded its warnings through natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. Yet, we persist in our arrogant ways, seemingly blind to the consequences. Have we ever paused to consider that this could be nature's final warning?
Let us not underestimate nature's power or resilience. It knows precisely how to restore balance. After all, we are products of this magnificent system, and we must recognize our responsibility to protect and preserve it.
